WHO WE ARE

A TEAM THAT LOVES TO CREATE

MiRA Timber Frame was established as a family business in 1998.

We are committed to quality detailed workmanship and responsible resources management in every project.

In addition to owners Trudy and Julian we have a design department that includes an engineer, architect and architectural technicians, a shop crew comprised of journeypersons & apprentice carpenters and in-house trained timber framers all managed by some amazing admin staff.

Our clients appreciate the traditional craftsmanship of high vaulted ceilings, large windows, open loft spaces, and the warmth and beauty only natural timbers can bring.

MiRA Timber Frame has the experience and expertise to make your timber frame dreams a reality.

We are the MiRA Timber Frame team dedicated to bringing you the best.

WHAT WE DO

TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP

We design, manufacture and install traditional European style timber frame structures using old-world craftsmanship with new-world technology.  Our Hundeggar CNC machine ensures quality and precision in every mortise & tenon joinery cut.

Timber framing is a method of building, which has been used for centuries. It involves the use of large structural timbers held together with elaborate wooden joinery and hardwood pegs.

The timber frame can then be enclosed in pre-manufactured SIP panels leaving the beauty of the exposed timbers on the interior.

Today, MiRA Timber Frame is housed in a 16,000 sq. ft. design and manufacturing facility located in Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada.

Our timber frames have been sent to all parts of Western Canada, Northwest USA and Hawaii.

Together we take your plans and physically turn them into the beautiful structures you see.

Julian - President

It's Julian's passion for the craft of timber framing that is the engine that propels us forwards.  His enthusiasm is truly contagious; he is an ambassador for MiRA in addition to being an impassioned supporter of the timber frame profession.  He encourages working with other timber frame enthusiasts in an effort to promote and preserve the true art and beauty of the craft of timber framing.

"I've always loved working with structure, starting in 1988 with steel which evolved into timber framing. The preciseness and quality is what keeps my fire fueled"

Trudy – Design Manager

Trudy's innate sense of style coupled with her degree in interior design is the backbone of our design department. With pencil in hand she will take your ideas and turn them into the perfect timber frame design.  If you can dream it she will help you believe it.

"Our design focus is to balance the clients' wish list with practical designs solutions & solid building practices.  Timber framing does present some design challenges which are quickly over shadowed by the inherent beauty of working with natural elements, and being focused on quality craftsmanship and detailing."
